Punknews is proud to premiere a new track from one of our own family. Lafayette, IN fuzzpop band Outdoor Velour (featuring married couple Cara Kinnally and long-time Punknews staffer/podcast producer Greg Simpson) have announced they will release a new album this spring, ironically called Our Songs, as it’s a covers album but it is simultaneously sincere. Per the band:
We consider these to be “our songs” in the way a couple would cutely say ‘They’re playing our song!’ All of these are special in our lives and our relationship. They are songs from albums we bonded over when we first met, music we have both loved throughout the years together, and albums we both grew up on that are ingrained in our subconsciousness.
Our Songs has an eclectic setlist from well-known classics to obscure numbers, songs ranging from 60s rock to 2000s punk and indie and even a Spanish-language pop ballad. The album was produced by Simpson himself at his studio Velour Underground and “God Only Knows” which was recorded live with a 13-piece band. You can find the tracklisting below and listen to or purchase "God Only Knows”, as well as pre-order the album. Our Songs is due to be released on May 11th, 2018.
